I have been using the HEAXGEAR Immersion A3 Mechanical keyboard for the past few weeks. This is a keyboard that is aimed towards gamers and I can certainly see why but it’s also a keyboard that can be used as your everyday keyboard for you 9-5.

So let’s jump into this keyboard in more detail and see why this is a great all-around keyboard.

Keyboard Design:

I really enjoy the design of this low-profile KTL (missing the number pad) gaming keyboard from HEXGEARS, I particularly like that it’s nice and slim and doesn’t take too much space on my desk setup. Because it’s low profile it makes it more ergonomic than your more traditional mechanical keyboards and because they are slim it makes them more portable.

Keyboard Build:

The HEXGEARS Immersion A3 Keyboard has a plastic bottom cover with the top casing being made out of aluminium. I really like the aluminium top case as it has a brushed like finish to it which I think provides a premium look to this keyboard. The build quality is also solid and it certainly feels like a keyboard that is going to last for a number of years.

On the bottom of the keyboard, you have two feet which can have two height settings so you can adjust the height to which best suits you. It also has two rubber stoppers at the bottom of the board which prevents it from slipping on your desk.

Keyboard Display:

Unlike other low-profile mechanical keyboards that I have used the Immersion A3 comes with an onboard display which you can personalise with GIFs and provides easy access to your RGB effects. I personally enjoy the fact that you can see how much battery you have left as well as whether you are in MAC or Windows mode.

RGB Back Lightening:

The HEXGEARS Immersion A3 Keyboard comes with a full suite of RGB lighting to add to the experience. It is also super easy to move through the different settings using the onboard display.

Connectivity:

This keyboard can connect to 3 devices at a time via Bluetooth but you can connect using the wire provided or by the USB dongle. You can easily switch between the 3 Bluetooth devices or the dongle using the 4 buttons at the top of the keyboard.

I have used Bluetooth to connect to my devices as well as the USB and all the connect seamlessly. Using the USB dongle to connect your device will be quicker but I find the Bluetooth connection to be just as good as the USB.

Connecting the device is simple as well, you just need to hold down the device button for a few seconds and then it will appear in your Bluetooth device list. You then just need to select the keyboard in the list and you are good to go. For the USB it’s simple you just plug the dongle into your computer’s USB-A port.

This board is also compatible with MAC, Windows and Android. You can easily move between Windows to MAC mode by holding down the FN key and tab key. I personally really appreciate this feature as I use MAC for my personal laptop and Window for work. It makes it easy to switch and be able to use the specific shortcut keys for each OS.

Switches:

This comes with Kailh low-profile switches and you can choose between whether you want linear (smooth), Tactile (bumpy) or clicky (this is the one that I went for). These are also hot-swappable so you don’t have to just choose one type you can go between whichever switch takes your fancy.

Typing Experience:

I have really enjoyed the typing experience on the Immersion A3 keyboard. I find that it’s really comfortable to type on and for long periods of time. I especially enjoy the click switches which just add to the enjoyment of using this on a daily basis.

Battery Life:

With a powerful 5,800mAh battery HEXGEAR says that it can deliver up to 50hrs of use which includes having the RGB lighting on with a single charge. I have used this wired so it has charged at the same time but from what I have experienced the battery life is very good on this keyboard. The keyboard is charged using a USB-C cable and easily charged whilst using the keyboard as the USB-C port is placed at the top of the keyboard.

Final Thoughts:

I have really enjoyed using this Keyboard and I think that for the price of $129, it has a lot to offer. From great RGB lightning to clicky switches delivers a great typing experience I think that there is something for everyone with this board. HEXGEAR has covered most bases with this and whether you want a keyboard that is specific for gaming or for everyday use with your work then this is worth checking out.
