The 3 Best Productivity Apps For Content Creation

Table of Contents

I have been creating content for over 2 years now, and without these 3 Apps to help me I would have quit along time ago.

Building a workflow that works for you is key to being productivity and consistent when creating content. In this post I want to take you through the benefit of using these Apps and how they improve your content creation and productivity workflow.

Now, let’s dive in.

Notion ⌨️

This is where I organise my content production and projects for my Blog and YouTube channel.

When I first started creating content I was struggling to keep track of Blogs that I needed to create and when I wanted to publish them. I was using multiple Google Sheets and Apple Notes which felt fragmented. I wanted to find a solution where I could keep it all together and that when I discovered Notion.

I created a content tracker that covered all my content streams which captured the key points that want to track. It has a great UI make it super easy customise how you want to view things. I didn’t just stop at content tracking, I also track finances, projects and ideas.

Benefits of Notion:

  • It’s Free
  • Easy to learn
  • Multiple templates to start

Apple Calendar 📅

Creating content is one thing but having a publishing schedule is key. Putting a date to publishing a piece a content gives you accountability and builds consistency.

I use my Calendar, specifically Apple Calendar to plan everything I need to digitally. My reason for this is that it syncs with all my other apple devices and I also find it visually pleasing and easy to use.

When I am planning my calendar I will allocate a date that it needs to be published and then I will add that to my Apple Calendar as well and set a reminder. If its in my calendar I am more likely to hit that target date that if it was not.

I created a new Calendar and named it Blog and gave it colour this way you can chose that calendar for and it will stand out for the rest. I do this across all the task that I put into my calendar e.g. YouTube, Personal, Family.

Benefits of Apple Calendar:

  • It’s Free
  • Syncs across Apple Devices
  • Easy to create multiple calendars

Ulysses 📝

I have been using Ulysses for my writing for a couple of years. It’s a great distraction writing tool. Its simple UI is great for focusing on writing but it still packs a number of great features to help create great content.

In the editor only mode you just get a blank screen for you to write away on. It is easy to format your writing how your want with the shortcuts or going into the markdown tab. You can add photo’s and it also has a built in proofer reader and editing assistant great for checked your spelling and grammar.

And my favourite feature is that you can publish your writing from the app directly into you Website or Medium. This saves time in having to copy your content from your writing app and formatting it, this was a game changer for me.

While the other apps on this list are free this one does come at a cost of £5.99 a month or £39.99 for the year. (there is a free trial) This is also only currently available on macOS or iOS so you will need to be an Apple user to take advantage of this one. If you are a Setapp user then you will find Ulysses on there 🙂

Benefits of Ulysses:

  • Distraction-free & simple UI
  • Built Editor and Proofreader
  • Publish directly to your website or Medium.
